Collection: Bedolina Map

This collection of tactile decorative silver rectangular jewellery by Carol James (Silverfish Designs) is based on unique and ancient rock art found in the Northern Italy.

In Carol's own words:

"Northern Italy's Alpine region is one of Europe's largest and most impressive rock art areas. The Valcamonica and neighbouring areas yield over 300,000 engravings. Now designated a World Heritage Site it contains many unique engravings portraying the complexity of later prehistoric life.

"Located on a small prominent spur the Bedolina map is thought to be a topographic panel dr h Age. It has been interpreted as a representation of the territory overlooked from this standpoint. Geometric forms such as rectangular enclosures filled with rows of cupmarks and joined by winding lines, can be seen as cultivated fields full of sheaves of grain with tracks alongside timber-frame houses, human and animal figures."
