Tregear Pottery is known for creating beautiful ranges of hand thrown stoneware pottery. It was founded by Neil Tregear who learnt his craft during a rigorous throwing apprenticeship in the porcelain workshops of Kyoto, Japan. His studio is based on the Isle of Wight and his designs are often influenced by the isle’s natural beauty. Sea motifs regularly appear in his work as he lives in Niton which is situated on the rocky South coast of the isle.
Each piece is hand thrown and made from fine white stoneware clay. All designs are fired in a wood kiln that is fuelled by unwanted sawmill offcuts, which is a completely sustainable fuel source. Neil tends to uses an earthen palette for his designs which feature various shades of blue that capture the essence of his surroundings and gives the work an atmospheric feel.
